Once you’ve obtained your Leaner’s Licence, you’re ready to take the next step and learn to drive and then eventually obtain your Provisional Licence.
The best way to achieve this is to learn to drive in a safe and supportive environment under the guidance and expertise of a professional driving instructor. You will learn good driving techniques and, once you have achieved the required standards and sufficient driving practice, you will be ready to sit your Provisional Licence test.
You must have held your Learner’s Licence for a minimum of 6 months before sitting your Provisional Licence test. Being taught by a professional instructor will greatly enhance your chances of passing your Licence test.
The Provisional licence Test is intended to check that you have sufficient knowledge of the Australian road rules and the necessary driving skills required to be a safe and competent driver. It will expose you to a variety of driving situations that you would be likely to encounter during your normal driving.
In order to pass the test, you will need to demonstrate that you are safe to be driving by yourself and without supervision.
